Arville

In the middle of the colorful plains, is Arville ....

Indeed, this commune, located on a vast cultivated plateau, is at the limit of Loiret and not far from Essonne. It was also closely linked to the existence of the Souppes-sur-Loing sugar refinery since its creation in 1874. In fact, it housed for a long time an important sugar beet processing plant, in this case a grater.

The village does not lack of interests with its typical and unique rural church classified as historical monuments in 1922.
The church of St-Pierre et St-Paul was built around the middle of the 12th century. Nevertheless, it has the general characteristics of Romanesque art (single nave, semicircular apse, small bays with semicircular arches). All in all, it also testifies to the beginnings of the Gothic style (vault of the choir with ribbed crossings with columns with capitals decorated with large scrolling leaves in the apse).
However, if these medieval elements remain, the nave was covered with wood paneling in the 17th century to replace the original cover, probably poorly maintained.

On the other hand, there is also a very beautiful tithe barns transformed into a house near the church square.
