Mondreville

This town counts among its inhabitants, exceptional craftsmen ....

The lands of the village were occupied from prehistoric times. Thus, the presence of a dolmen, now disappeared, confirmed this. We are on the grounds of an old seigneurial town, its history is rich thanks to the Hospitallers of Saint John and the Templars who settled in Pilvernier, a hamlet of this commune.

The charming Romanesque church dedicated to Saint-Etienne was built in the 12th century. The basilica plan and the bell tower are common in the Gâtinais.
Porches are sometimes called "caquetoirs", places where people "cackle", unlike cuddles, seats for chatting. They are also meeting places where, in particular, adults meet to discuss municipal affairs. The porch is listed as a Historic Monument in 1908.

An organ builder has been operating in this peaceful village since 1988.
