Saint Clair Church

The Saint Clair church was erected at the end of the 12th century.

It is considered a model of Gothic architecture. As soon as you enter, you are struck by the harmony of the high nave, characteristic of early Gothic. Erected at the end of the 12th century as an extension of the primitive chapel of Sainte Marie de Souppes, it can be considered as a model of Gothic architecture. Upon entering, one is struck by the harmony of the high nave, characteristic of early Gothic. The sober purity of the architecture is underlined by the ridge of the ribs. Above the tiled roof, a slate-covered spire, sharp as a needle, rises to the sky. The church houses an altarpiece listed as a Historic Monument made up of eleven sculpted and polychrome panels depicting scenes from the Passion. This one comes from the Abbey of Cercanceaux.
