Annie Cardin / Painter

Annie learns to draw before she can write.

Annie Cardin was born in Paris on 30 September 1938. An encounter in high school led her to pottery courses in Ratilly, then to a school in the Place des Vosges to perfect her drawing skills and to learn the discipline of copperplate engraving. There she met Claude Bogratchew, her companion.
She has participated in exhibitions in Paris since 1958 and has had some 200 exhibitions in France and abroad (Europe, Asia, United States) in galleries and museums. She also creates monumental decorations.
Annie Cardin's art according to her partner Claude Bogratchew:
"Metaphysical subjects are treated with the words of nature. This discrepancy between the feeling and its expression allows the artist to formulate an intimacy that needs to be dressed in poetry. A veil of mist that rounds off all the sharp blades of the particular and thus reaches the universal stripped of its dross.
